Art In Perth
Written by Daniel Maddox
Jul 07, 16Perth is home to some extraordinary pieces of art and design. From small canvas paintings, to complete building structures. Art is everywhere here, and we at iST Digital want to list a few of our favourites!
Whether you are from Perth or just visiting, you will always find some unique and fascinating pieces of art and design. The team here at iST Digital have come up with a list of places that we think you might like to go visit to see some amazing pieces of work.
Art Gallery of Western Australia
We will start with a more prominent place to go first. The Art Gallery of Western Australia was founded in 1895. It occupies a precinct of three heritage buildings on the south-eastern corner of the Perth Cultural Centre.
This Gallery is home to the State Art Collection, which includes the world’s finest collections of Indigenous art, the pre-eminent collection of Western Australian art and design, as well as Australian and International art and design.
Beaufort Street
Beaufort Street has loads of street art and murals on walls, buildings, roads, signs, you name it, it has art on it!
The street itself welcomes all coffee addicts, music lovers, creators, designers and foodies. They encourage local artists to get involved and through the Beaufort Street Artisan Market, they sponsor street art and innovative projects. Local businesses have also allowed many walls to be turned into murals. You will find so much artwork down the laneways as well.
We highly recommend you visiting this street the next time you go into Perth. To find our more of what Perth has to offer Click Here
Fremantle Arts Centre
Fremantle Arts Centre (FAC) is one of Western Australia’s major arts organisations and best-loved facilities. It offers a rich program of exhibitions, courses, events and much more!
The art and design pieces at FAC are phenomenal and will make you feel so inspired just walking through those doors.
Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA)
Housed in a large and gorgeous heritage building in the heart of Perth, PICA is the city’s focal point for those wanting to experience the best of Australian and International visual, performance and interdisciplinary art.
This institution runs an all year round program of changing exhibitions, performances and different projects. Every time that you go, you will see something new, vibrant and sometimes bizarre but that is what makes they beauty of it all. You do not know what to expect at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts.
Fremantle Abandoned Power Station
If you like to go to new, exciting areas and be adventurous, we highly demand you visit this place. Since this building closed in 1985, the power station has had a bit of a makeover inside. The building has been filled with graffiti. It is so strange seeing the outside of the building looking very decayed, to be then overwhelmed by the amount of colour that is all over the walls inside.
We are constantly on the look out for more new and exciting pieces of art around Perth. It helps us come up with fresh and new ideas when it comes to Web Design, Graphic Design and much more!
