Google is now rolling out to punish sites which have not been upgraded to the new multi-device layout, which can affect their search results. Why? Now that over 80% of people are using their mobile phones and tablets to search, Google wants to make sure that all the results that come up on the front page are mobile friendly. That means that the website automatically resizes depending on the device being used. At present there are 66% of Australian websites that are not ‘Mobile’ responsive.
Why does Google care so much? Usability. Google and all web-designers’ first priority is user experience, if the user can’t clearly see the website on their phone they’re unlikely to want to look it up again on their mobile devices. First impressions are everything.
Update your site now, before it’s too late!
